Over the past several years, the landscape of college and career readiness (CCR) has undergone rapid evolution. The field has experienced significant transformation—from the overhaul of the FAFSA process to changes in college admissions policies and the rapid advancement of and expectation for work-based learning opportunities. These shifts have had a profound impact on the daily work of school counselors, CTE educators, and college and career advisors–the professionals who remain on the front lines of helping students chart a meaningful path forward.
With this backdrop, it is vital that we check in with individuals in these positions to understand how their roles have changed; best practices that have supported success; where they see the biggest needs for support and professional learning going forward; and what is driving them to continue to put forth their tremendous efforts to support students and families. It is critical to hear directly from these professionals who are doing CCR work day in and day out. Understanding the many facets of their experiences, listening to their voices on how students and the expectations of students are changing, and how they are being supported and challenged informs professional training, public policy development, and strategic planning at the school, district, and state level.
