- The SSF contributes to the financial foundation necessary for those who seek to attend an accredited college or university in order to further their vision for the future.
- The maximum annual family income to qualify for the SSF is $150,000 in the given tax year of the application (tax forms will not be required to apply, only an estimate, but updated federal tax information may be requested to verify a winner’s official status).
- All scholarship recipients will possess the following credentials: -
- Students must be legal California residents -
- Students must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 -
- Students must be enrolled in an accredited CA high school -
- Students must be in their junior or senior year An application, with a 500-word essay, is required for scholarship entry.
- Applications may be submitted between September 1st and January 31st each year and awards will be distributed to winners after April 1st or upon graduation from high school. The application is offered through accredited California high schools and online via the SSF Applications page. Factors involved in the award decision include: Unweighted GPA (9th-11th grades, including all subjects), difficulty of curriculum, a 500-word essay, the student’s application information, financial need (as determined by the Board) and SAT or ACT scores (recommended, but not required).Two different types of awards are given by the SSF each year. Gold Scholars are our top award winners and will each receive a $1,000 scholarship award. Silver Scholars are our secondary winners and will each receive a $500 scholarship award. The number of awards given each year will vary, based on the amount of funds available. A minimum of one Gold Scholar and one Silver Scholar will be awarded each year.
