  • Minority Fellowship Program

Requirements
  • Applicants must be enrolled in and have completed one full year in a Ph.D. program in Sociology.
  • Students must be members of an underrepresented minority group in the U.S.: African American, Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander or American Indians/Alaska Natives.
  • Applicants must also be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals of the U.S., or have been lawfully admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence.
  • The fellowship is awarded for 12 months and typically renewable for up to three years in total.
  • Tuition and fees are arranged with the home department.
  • MFP Fellows are selected each year by the MFP Advisory Panel, a rotating, appointed group of senior scholars in sociology.
  • Fellows can be involved in any area of sociological research, though particular MFP award lines devoted to drug abuse research may be possible contingent on funding.
