Requirements

General Requirements:
 Incoming students new to Armstrong are encouraged to complete the admission process by the posted waiver deadlines. Students have to be accepted before
a decision on the Presidential Waiver application can be made.
 Students must submit an original essay covering the current waiver topic: “Why do you believe you should be awarded an out-of-state tuition waiver?”
Please include your name on the essay.
 Incoming freshman may remain on the waiver for up to four academic years. Transfer Students may remain on the waiver for up to three academic years.
Graduate Students may remain on the waiver for up to two academic years (Three years for students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program).
 Students eligible for another out-of-state tuition waiver should not apply. If eligible for another waiver, student must apply for and submit documentation for
that specific waiver.
 Graduate students lose eligibility if they accept a Graduate Assistantship.
 Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible.
 Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours for undergraduate students; 6 credit hours for graduate students)

Academic Waiver Requirements:
 Freshman: Minimum 3.3 High School GPA and/or minimum score of 1000 SAT / 21 ACT and/or Freshman Index of 2655. To remain on the waiver,
students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete a new application form annually.
 Transfer: 30 or more transferable semester hours and a minimum 3.0 transferred GPA. To remain on the waiver, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and
complete a new application form annually.
 Graduate: Minimum 3.3 undergraduate degree GPA. To remain on the waiver, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete a new application form
annually.

International Waiver Requirements:
 Must be a non-US citizen and be “in legal status” with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to be considered for this waiver.
Proof of current status is required. Please attach a copy of the student’s most current: I-20, Visa, or I-797C. If student’s status changes during the academic
year, the student must submit documentation with his/her new USCIS status. It may be determined that the student will need to apply for another waiver or
petition for residency. If the student does not maintain USCIS status, the waiver will be removed.
 Freshman: Preferred minimum 2.5 High School GPA in the semester/term directly prior to the academic year. This rule only applies to students that have
prior US college/university credits. International transcripts will be evaluated for grade determination by Armstrong State University Admissions Office. To
remain on the waiver, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and complete a new application form annually.
 Transfer: 30 or more transferable semester hours and a preferred minimum 3.0 transferred GPA in the semester/term directly prior to the requested academic
year. This rule only applies to students that have prior US college/university credits. International transcripts will be evaluated for grade determination by
Armstrong State University Admissions Office. To remain on the waiver, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and complete a new application form annually.
