CF's largest scholarship program is the Robert H. Short/Cumberland Community Foundation Scholars Program. This program is made possible by an endowment gift from the estate of Robert H. Short. A successful businessman and a brilliant investor Short always regretted that he had not attended college. He acquired his wealth through hard work conservative living and a successful self-designed investment strategy. Short died at age 89 in February 2011 after a brief illness. He wanted to help kids go to college so upon his death in 2011 CCF received a generous bequest from his estate to continue his support for students.
