The Kate Allred Education Grant was established in 2010 by the Estate of Kate Allred to support education grants to students. Ms. Allred served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later as a member of the Army Reserve in a M.A.S.H. unit during the Vietnam War. She received her nursing training at N.C. Baptist Hospital and worked there for many years until her retirement. The Kate Allred Education Grant may provide a non-renewable grant for students who will pursue a first-time degree certificate or diploma from accredited post-secondary institutions. Scholarships will be applied to the cost of undergraduate tuition fees room and board and other college expenses.
