Iowa's Matthew Shepard Scholarship Program works with highly motivated students who are interested in advice and assistance from adult mentors to accelerate their academic experience and performance improve their adjustment to professional standards of behavior goals ethics and success and out-perform their age group in transitioning to adult leadership roles. Scholarship awards are based on academic aptitude academic achievement community service and financial need.
The scholarship program is divided into two separate categories: Silver Scholarships and Gold Scholarships.Iowa's Silver Matthew Shepard Scholarship is an award of up to $9000 over four years. The initial scholarship of $500 per semester may be used for tuition books or fees and any college or university in the US. Iowa's Gold Matthew Shepard Scholarship is an award of up to $40000 over four years. The scholarship pays tuition books and fees at Iowa State University the University of Iowa or the University of Northern Iowa.All scholarships are renewable annually for up to four years upon evidence of academic achievement and continued service to the LGBTQ community.For more information or to apply please visit the scholarship provider's website.
