The Hood Milk Sportsmanship Scholarship Program awards 18 New England high school student athletes with a scholarship toward furthering their education at a two- or four- year accredited college or university.
To be eligible high school seniors must have proven their ability to put the spirit of competition above winning while participating in a varsity sport. These students must have also earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher and performed volunteer work in the community. Applicants will be asked to write an essay explaining how they display sportsmanship and integrity on and off the field. Each student who meets these standards and completes the essay will then be voted on in an online competition. The 10 applicants from each New England state (Connecticut Maine Massachusetts New Hampshire Rhode Island and Vermont) who have received the most votes will be interviewed by a select panel of judges. The panel of judges will then select three students from each state for a total of 18 scholarships. Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and inducted into the Hood Sportsmanship Hall of Fame. Voting begins in April. For more information or to apply please visit the scholarship provider's website.
