The Coshocton Foundation was created in 1967 through a $680 bequest from Adolph Golden a prominent Coshocton merchant and harness racing enthusiast. The foundation originally was a single fund from which all grants were made.

In 1989 the late Edward and Frances Montgomery gave broader giving a significant boost by establishing a challenge fund that would match gifts to the Foundation's unrestricted fund. The fund was set up to match a maximum of $500000 over a period of ten years. The Montgomery challenge spurred many gifts from a broader base of donors. The breadth of that donor base continues to grow as more and more people become aware of the Foundations activities and aware of the fact that gifts of any size are welcome and beneficial to the Coshocton County community. The Coshocton Foundation is offering five scholarships in 2015 for non-traditional (adult – age 21 and over) students from Coshocton County. The following scholarship awards will be made this summer for students attending any two- or four-year accredited college university or trade school. For more information on how to apply visit the Coshocton Foundation website.
