The annual Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference program targets rising high school seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism and who demonstrate qualities of "free spirit".

Requirements
Students come to Washington, D.C., to participate in an all-expenses-paid journalism conference at the Newseum, located at 555 Pennsylvania Ave., NW. This program began in 1999 and is funded by the Newseum Institute to honor Al Neuharth, the founder of USA Today, Newseum and the Freedom Forum. The conference is designed to inspire and encourage students to pursue journalism. To qualify as an applicant for this program:-You must be a high school junior who will graduate in the year after the conference-You must be committed to pursuing a career in journalism-You must demonstrate qualities of a "free spirit."-You must be available to attend the Washington D.C. conference in June-You must fill out the application completely.
