The John L. Carey Scholarship provides financial assistance to liberal arts and non-business degree holders who are pursuing both graduate studies in accounting and the CPA licensure. This award is funded by the AICPA Foundation and is intended to encourage students with little or no previous accounting education to consider professional accounting careers.

Up to 5 students will each receive a non-renewable $5,000 scholarship. (Payments are sent directly to the school for credit to the account of the student.) A scholarship selection task force will review all qualified applications after the April 1st deadline and select winners based on academic achievement, leadership and future career interests in accounting. Obtained a liberal arts or other non-business undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States prior to enrolling in a graduate accounting program-Not earned more than 12 credits in accounting or business during his/her undergraduate program-Planning to pursue the CPA licensure but not presently be a CPA-Planning to pursue a graduate-level degree in an accounting-related major. -Acceptance/enrollment at a public or private, not-for-profit four-year college or university located in the U.S. States-Not actively participating in a graduate accounting program-Enrolled as a full-time graduate level student (9 semester hours or equivalent) for the full academic year. -A U.S. citizen or permanent resident For more details and to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.
