Thank you for your interest in the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference. One student from each state and the District of Columbia will be selected to participate in an all-expenses paid, five-day conference at the Newseum in Washington D.C., June 18-22, 2016.
We invite you to complete the following application.
Applicants are strongly advised to print and read the reference guide prior to starting the application process. (The guide is available throughout the application.)
Applicants will be unable to save this form – therefore, it must be completed in one sitting. Please allow up to 45 minutes to complete.
The application deadline for the conference is February 1, 2016. All applicants will be notified by mid-May whether or not they have been selected for the program.
The Freedom Forum makes all determinations without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national orign, age, disability, or any other protected classification.
To qualify as an applicant for this program:
You must be a high school junior who will graduate in the Class of 2017.
You must be committed to pursuing a career in journalism.
You must demonstrate qualities of a “free spirit.”
You must be available to attend the conference June 18-22, 2016, in Washington, D.C.
You must fill out the application completely. Unfinished applications will not be considered.

Letters of recommendation may be uploaded, mailed separately, or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. All letters of recommendation should be submitted on official letterhead and should include the contact information of the person providing it.
