Scholarship Amount: $1,000 for the academic year for Undergraduate students
$2,000 for academic year for Graduate students
20-40 awards to be made.
Eligible Degrees: Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Physical Science, Technology, Science, Engineering, or Natural Resources
Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited four-year college/university, or a full-time student at a two-year college enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree
Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Must be an enrolled member of an American Indian tribe, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian or otherwise considered to be an American Indian by the tribe with which affiliation is claimed; or is at least 1/4 American Indian blood; or is at least 1/4 Alaskan Native; or considered to be an Alaskan Native by an Alaskan Native group to which affiliation is claimed.
Must be a current AISES member.
All AISES scholarship programs require that students submit current transcripts from their college/university, as well as past transcripts from all colleges attended (if currently a college student). For high school seniors just starting their college careers, your most recent high school transcripts, as well as transcripts from other high schools you attended must be submitted. All transcripts must be official transcripts issued by the school’s registrar’s office. AISES will NOT accept unofficial transcripts or grade reports. The transcript must come directly from the school, college, or university registrar’s office and/or bear an official seal/signature.
Students are usually required to submit an essay (or two) as part of the application process. All applicants will be expected to provide a personal statement limited to no more than 1000 words. This statement is evaluated reviewers and it is expected to address educational and/or career goals, interest in and motivation to continue higher education, demonstrate an understanding of the importance of college and the student’s commitment to complete the educational program undertaken, and demonstrate the student’s plan or desire to make a difference in or impact their community.
Lastly, all AISES applicants are required to upload a copy of their resume into the AISES scholarship online platform AND into the AISES Online Resume Database. In order to submit a resume to the database, the applicant must be a current AISES member.
